1. Who is Eligible to Enter?
The competition is open to amateur or professional photographers 18 and older. We are looking for any type of digital or film photography, from the Hipstamatic to the Hasselblad. We are looking for images that delve deep into the essence of Brunswick.
2. How do I submit my work?
We only accept submissions via email to [email protected] or via physical mail (if preferred). All applicants will receive a confirmation email that their submission has been received. Maximum of 3 submissions per entrant.
3. And the prize is?
The winner receives a 6 month residency in one of the artist studios at The Commons, valued at over $5,000.
The top 5 submissions will be published in the next edition of Dumbo Feather magazine, and early entrants will be displayed in The Commons display suite when it opens in August 2011.
We also hope to permanently display the top 5 submissions in the communal areas of The Commons once the building is complete.
Submissions are due on 30 September 2011. The winner of the photography competition will be notified in the same way on or about 15 November 2011.
4. So who will be the judge?
The winner of the photography competition will be determined from among all eligible entries received by our panel of qualified judges.
Our judges are:
- James Braund, award winning professional photographer
- Patrick Pittman, editor of Dumbo Feather;
The judges will determine the winner based on a scoring system that considers originality, skill and appreciation for the subject. The entrant who submitted the entry receiving the highest score, as determined by our judging panel, will be the Grand Prize winner.
5. Copyright and other legal stuff?
We will absolutely not resell your work to a third party, or use your images for any commercial purpose outside the scope of this contest. Every image that you submit is yours and you retain all rights to your images.
Your images will be hosted on our web server for viewing on the website for The Commons and your images may be selected for special promotion in Dumbo Feather and the display suite for The Commons. In submitting your entry to the competition, you grant to us an irrevocable, royalty-free, non-exclusive, worldwide perpetual license to use your submission and your name on The Commons website, the display suite and other promotional material related to The Commons without further compensation, notification or permission.
